Maya Bay in the afternoon is a disaster. Hundreds of boats jammed in, thousands of tourists, and the famous beach looks more like a crowded car park than the paradise from The Beach. The solution is simple: get there early. This tour departs Krabi at 7 AM specifically to hit Maya Bay before the armada arrives — and the difference is dramatic.
Operated by Sea Eagle, this speedboat tour covers Phi Phi Leh, four additional islands, and packs in snorkeling, beach time, and a proper buffet lunch at Phi Phi Don. It’s a long day — about 9-10 hours — but you’re moving the whole time and the variety keeps things interesting.
**The route:**
Minibus pickup from your Krabi hotel, down to Nopparat Thara Beach for the 7 AM departure with a breakfast snack box. The speedboat gets to Phi Phi Leh in under 45 minutes — while most tourists are still eating breakfast at their hotels.
**Maya Bay** is genuinely breathtaking when it’s quiet. White limestone cliffs, clear water, and space to actually enjoy the view. The beach reopened in 2022 after a 3-year restoration closure, and the coral has bounced back noticeably. **Pileh Lagoon** is next — an enclosed emerald-green lagoon surrounded by sheer cliffs that you glide through by boat. It’s like sailing through a painting.
From there it’s snorkeling stops at several sites around Phi Phi Leh with good coral and fish life, then across to **Phi Phi Don** for a buffet lunch (good spread, not just rice). Post-lunch, the tour continues to **Bamboo Island** — a flat, shallow-water spot perfect for swimming and lazing on the beach before the return trip to Krabi.
**Practical stuff:** Entrance fees to Maya Bay and other national park areas are NOT included (typically 400-600 THB total, paid at the sites). Snorkeling equipment is provided.
